GRAND RAPIDS TOWNSHIP (Newschannel 3) – A man attempting to steal some kitchen knives from a Grocery Store in Grand Rapids is in serious condition Monday night.
It happened at the Knapp Corners Meijer on the East Beltline and Knapp NE around 5:45 Monday evening.
Grand Rapids Police say that the man had shoplifted the knives and was trying to get away with them when he fell, piercing himself in the stomach.
When police arrived at the store he was unconscious. He was taken to the hospital for treatment, where his injuries are reported as non-life threatening.
Police say they have released the man from custody since his offense was a misdemeanor.
